1954: Pope Pius XII, directs each diocese to erect a building to memorialize the Marian year. Father Michael Melley, Pastor of Saint Elizabeth's Church, erects ICS as a gift to the parish.
September 8, 1954: ICS is in early stages of construction. K-1 begin classes on the first floor of the original convent, 2-3 in the basement of St. Elizabeth's Church, 4-8 in the basement of St. Joseph's Church in Wind Gap.
September 11, 1955: Cardinal John O'Hara lays the cornerstone and blesses ICS. An estimated 1000 people tour the new school.
May, 1955: Classes begin in the new building.
1961: Mr. and Mrs. Amelio Scott donate 3 acres for a playground and rectory. An apartment house next to the school is purchased and converted to a convent for the Sisters of St. Joseph.
1983: Enrollment is on a decline and the Sisters of St. Joseph are reassigned. Monsignor Charles Moss obtains the aid of the Dominican Daughters of the Immaculate Mother from the Philippines.
December 12, 2004: 50th Anniversary is commemorated with a Mass of Thanksgiving and Celebratory Dinner.
2013: Pre-Kindergarten Opens
August 25, 2015: 7th and 8th Grades are reinstated.
2016: Planning begins for new Early Learning Center building.
October 12, 2018: Early Learning Center Mass of Thanksgiving and building blessing by Bishop Alfred Schlert
October 15, 2018: Early Learning Center opens for Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade.
From the beginning, ICS has maintained a strong Catholic identity. Since 1983, the Dominican Daughters have been educating both intellect and spirit.
